Green light for 18-storey office tower in Liverpool

Planning permission has been accepted for a £70 million, 18-storey office development in Pall Mall, Liverpool.
The development has been approved by North-West backing scheme Liverpool Vision, who commented that the office scheme is "essential to attract inward investors and create jobs."
Former factory in Salford Quays to be transformed into office complex

A former Colgate Palmolive factory in Salford Quays is due to undergo a major £25m transformation to become the 'Soapworks' - a new complex with office space, retail and leisure space and homes.
The development is expected to bring 2,000 jobs to the region, subject to the acceptance of planning permission.

An arts centre in West Bromwich that has been "beset with problems" may finally be completed, thanks to a possible £1.4m loan and a plan to transform one floor into office space.
'The Public', a £72m arts centre that opened in June 2008, was a massive £49m over budget and 12 months behind schedule. As yet the scheme is still unfinished, as two floors are still in need of work.

UK breaks records for longest recession ever

The UK has broken the recession record, by staying in recession for six consecutive quarters - the longest run since quarterly figures were first recorded in 1955.
UK GDP (gross domestic product) has contracted for six quarters on the trot, meaning the UK is still in a recession.

The UK commercial property market got a major boost this week, thanks to a key transaction which saw British Land buy a West End office development for £40.25m.
The company bought the property on Victoria Street from Aviva Investors, in a deal which is said to be among the first of its kind in the Central London investment market this year.

According to TheBusinessDesk, the proposal drawn up by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) involves borrowing money from the European Investment Bank, and then having this fund matched by the European Regional Development Fund.
